SMDM members contribute critically to health policy research in the areas of evidence-based medicine, cost effective health care, patient decision making and public health. For more information, see Contributions. For further information, SMDM has made available online the summary
abstracts (written in non-scientific language) for
articles published in recent volumes of its journal,
Medical Decision Making. These abstracts are grouped
by topic area to facilitate browsing. While SMDM members
publish in many other journals as well, these abstracts
represent a good cross-section of the type of research
the Society promotes.
SMDM offers deeply discounted membership rates and meeting registration fees to people residing in non-high income countries. Eligibility for these fees is based on country of residence, using the World Bank definition of low and middle income countries (see list).
