Core Courses - SMDM offers a curriculum of introductory-level core courses in foundational aspects of medical decision making. The core courses are:

  • Introduction to Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

  • Introduction to Shared Decision Making and Patient Decision Aids

  • Introduction to Medical Decision Analysis (Decision-Analytic Modeling)

  • Introduction to Psychology of Medical Decision Making

Short Courses offer a great opportunity to learn something new from leaders in the field. Whether you are new to the field of medical decision making and or a more experienced professional, there is a short course for you. It is a great way to broaden your knowledge base. Short courses are typically 3 – 5 hours in length. 

Are you interested in teaching an SMDM Virtual Online Course? Submit your idea here and the Education Committee will consider your proposal for inclusion in future education programs. (These are online only, virtual courses as opposed to in person courses at the Annual Meeting.)
