Dinner With Locals
An opportunity to see some of Vancouver, and eat at its unique restaurants, meet some locals and meet some fellow meeting attendees! Space is limited and pre-registration is required. All events are self-pay.

All registered attendees will meet in the Westin Bayshore Conference Center Lobby at 7:30 PM.
Chinese Food - Limited to 10 Attendees
Vancouver has some of North America’s best Chinese food. Attendees will dine at Dinesty Dumpling House on Robson Street, where you will experience excellent Xiao Long Bao (soup dumpling) and Shanghai cuisine. Dish sharing should be expected. Wei Zhang, a Postdoc at the School of Population and Public Health and Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences will host this dinner. Meet Wei at 7:30pm in the Westin Conference Center Lobby. The restaurant is a 10 minute walk and expect to pay $20-30 CAD for dinner.
Art Gallery followed by dinner at Italian Kitchen - Limited to 15 Attendees
Enjoy exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery, featuring iconic Canadian artist Emily Carr and photographer Harry Callahan (entry by donation). Afterwards, a late dinner is reserved at Italian Kitchen, a stylish downtown eatery with classic Italian fare ($$). Dr. Sarah Munro, Postdoctoral Fellow with Dartmouth College and the University of British Columbia will host this event. Meet Sarah at 7:30 pm in the Westin Conference Center Lobby, where you will share taxis to the Art Gallery.
Sushi followed by Bowling - Limited to 15 Attendees
Sushi is fresh and plentiful in Vancouver. We will head to one of the local sushi restaurants and then for those interested do some ten pin bowling at the Commodore Lanes on Granville St. Sushi is $10-20CAD per person and bowling is $10-15CAD. Mark Harrison (Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC) will host this event. Meet Mark at 7:30 pm in the Westin Conference Center Lobby, where you will walk to the restaurant and then share taxis to Granville Island.
Mini Micro Brewery Tour - Limited to 15 Attendees
The East side of Vancouver has a growing Microbrewery industry, many having tasting rooms. We will move between 3. David Whitehurst (Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University) and Logan Trenaman (PhD Student at the School of Population and Public Health, UBC) will host this event. Meet at 7:30 pm in Westin Conference Center Lobby, where you will share taxis to and from the microbreweries (~$3-5CAD cash person each way), beers are $5-10CAD each. Snacks and food trucks are also available.
