About this Event

SMDM Innovate brings you “From CEA to BCA and Beyond: Benefit-Cost Analysis Concepts, Application, and Challenges”. In this 1.5-hour webinar, we will compare cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) and benefit-cost analysis (BCA), highlighting how they measure health outcomes, value benefits, guide decisions, and incorporate equity—key considerations as public health policies increasingly extend beyond the health care system.

Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) dominates economic evaluation in health care, yet many policies that shape public health rely on benefit-cost analysis (BCA). This webinar will clarify the key similarities and differences between CEA and BCA—including how each measures health gains, values life years, and informs decisions. We will also explore emerging methods to incorporate equity and social welfare considerations, especially for interventions outside the health care system.
