SMDM 2025-2027 Strategic Plan
By 2028, SMDM will:
- Communicate a distinct identity and value propositions to current and potential members, collaborators, and decision makers.
- Be the primary source of connection and career advancement for a diverse, international multi-disciplinary membership.
- Be a leader in the creation, dissemination, and translation of methods that advance decision science and meet public needs.
In achieving these goals, SMDM will:
- Operate in a manner that is sustainable for members and the organization.
- Apply an international (e.g., non-US) lens to all activities.
Proposed activities for 2025-2027
- Increase exchange with clinicians and HTA policymakers – bring them to our meetings and conduct sessions at theirs.
- Revisit best practice/guidelines for update/refresh, potentially in collaboration with other societies, and promote/include them in branding, and strengthening the pipeline to journal editorials and commentaries.
- Enhance the special interest groups (e.g. SIG-based awards, sponsored sessions, symposia) and make their activities more visible (on web, social media, through branded webinars).
- Increase online communication, engagement, and visibility (e.g. Start a branded moderated listserv for public posting of events and discussions relevant to medical decision science).
