Travel to Canada
Canadian citizens living in Canada at the time of the conference may travel freely in and out of Montreal.
All US citizens will need a valid US passport to enter into Canada. Ensure your passport is up-to-date and will not expire within 6 months past your date of departure from Canada (passports must be valid thru April 30, 2019).
If you need to apply for a passport, or renew your passport, leave yourself enough time to do so as the application process can take up to 6 weeks. Additional fees apply for expedited services. To apply for a US passport, visit http://travel.state.gov. For citizens of countries other than the US, please consult your local government for the passport application process.
SMDM recommends that U.S. attendees register for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)
Do I need a Visa or eTA to enter into Canada?
Please visit the government of Canada’s website to determine if you need a visa or eTA for entry into Canada.
Most US citizens are exempt from eTA if traveling to Canada by air, but please verify.
** It is the attendee's responsibility to confirm and acquire the proper travel documents for entry into Canada. SMDM does not refund conference registration fees for those denied entry into Canada.**
SMDM has partnered with United Airlines to offer discounted rates on flights to/from Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). For the discount code, please contact SMDM.
