Call for Abstracts, Short Courses and Issue Panels

The deadline to submit proposals for abstracts, short courses and issue panels is Tuesday 4 February 2020.

All submissions will be reviewed and notifications sent out in late March 2020.

Oral Abstracts are offered in multiple concurrent sessions with up to 5 presentations per session. Oral presentations are scheduled in 15-minute blocks and grouped in the categories listed on the guidelines page.

Poster Sessions allow attendees to delve into and discuss the specifics of an abstract with the author in a one-on-one or small group setting.

All accepted oral and poster abstracts will be published online in Medical Decision Making, SMDM’s peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Short Course Proposals

Short Courses will be held on Sunday 14 June 2020. ESMDM offers a mix of full day and half day courses in the morning and afternoon.

Short courses offer a great opportunity to learn something new from leaders in the field, and can be geared to a fundamental, intermediate, or advanced level. Short course size is generally small, varying from 10-30 participants per course, depending on the materials being presented and hands-on work being conducted during the course.

SMDM is interested in short course submissions in all areas of medical decision making. SMDM encourages short course proposals in the areas of scientific inquiry and/or related to the European Conference theme, Linking Research to Evidence-Based Action for Patients, Providers and Policy Decision Makers.

Issue Panels

Issue panels are highly interactive sessions, with up to three short presentations, aimed at stimulating debate and discussion. Duration is 1 hour 15 minutes, with a maximum of 45 minutes devoted to presentations. Issue panels address issues in medical decision making for which the knowledge is scant, debate is widespread, or new insights have recently emerged.
