Information for Poster Presenters

Poster Board Guidelines:

  • Posters will be hung on bulletin boards with a display area of 4' height x 8' width.

  • Abstract title, author(s) and institution must be placed at the top of your poster in large lettering (at least 2" high)

  • Be sure graphs, charts and copy can be read at a distance of 6'-8'

  • Pushpins will be provided to attach your poster to the poster board.

  • Please include a statement on the bottom of your poster disclosing potential or perceived conflicts of interest or stating there were no conflicts.

  • Posters need to be removed prior to the next Poster Session. Posters not removed by the owner will be removed by SMDM event staff and will be housed at the SMDM registration desk or office.

Information for Oral Presenters

You must confirm acceptance of your presentation by Monday, 21 April 2025, by registering for the meeting AND completing your disclosures with our CME accreditation sponsor, “The University of Alabama Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine”. Please email info@SMDM.org if you are not able to present.

Presentation Notes

  • Your presentation is scheduled for 15 minutes within the 75 minute time block identified above.

  • Please plan your talk for 10 minutes and allow 5 minutes for a question-and-answer session at the conclusion of your presentation.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the session time block to check in with the session moderators.

  • SMDM Management will be in touch in May to collect presentations in advance and compile them. If you do not provide your presentation in advance, please bring a final copy of your presentation with you on a flash drive. More information about this process will be shared.

  • A podium, lectern with microphone, laptop, projector, and screen will be set up in your presentation room prior to your arrival.

  • A volunteer will be in your presentation room for the duration of the session to assist with presentation download and any other questions.

  • Oral abstract presenters must include a slide at the beginning of the presentation to be shown for approximately 15-20 seconds disclosing potential or perceived conflicts of interest or stating that there were no conflicts.

  • Patients will be in attendance and may appear as presenters. Additionally, SMDM is a multidisciplinary society and welcomes attendees such as policymakers and other stakeholders. Please do your best to write about and present your work in a way that is understandable to an audience of peers and other experts.

  • Please prepare your slides using a 16:9 aspect ratio.

CME for Oral Presentations

SMDM will be offering CE credits for the 2025 Annual Meeting*.

The University of Alabama Heersink School of Medicine requires full disclosure of relevant financial relationships to ensure that all CME activities it provides are free of commercial influence and bias, all research reported is scientifically valid, all information is accurate and all recommendations are made with the interest of the public placed above any individual interests. When preparing your oral presentation, please prepare to disclose any financial relations at the beginning of the presentation. If you have nothing to disclose, please state “I have no relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies to disclose.” If you do have relationships to disclose, please state what those relationships are and who they are with.
