Society for Medical Decision Making

The SMDM is excited to announce the creation of the new SMDM Committee on Anti-Racism, Diversity and Inclusion named the Diversity, Anti-racism, & Transformation Team (DART).  DART will build on the strong leadership of our members and call for volunteers. DART is mandated to educate SMDM members about anti-racism, diversity and inclusion, and identify and engage in methods to address structural and interpersonal racism and exclusion within SMDM and society. Specific activities will include:

1. Building on previous work on conduct and inclusion

2. Supporting high-quality research and training in these areas

3. Review and provide recommendations to modify SMDM structures and processes to ensure transformation of our institutional frameworks that might maintain racist or exclusionary practices

4. Identifying SMDM advocacy approaches to improve the science of medical decision making with anti-racism as a goal

The Committee will consist of two Co-Chairs, and at least three committee members all of whom are members of the SMDM.  Please note that membership selection will strongly consider diversity and inclusion, and will welcome experiences of people who have worked in related areas outside of SMDM.
