SMDM 2024: One-to-One Mentorship Program

Sign up to be a One-to-One Mentor for the 46th Annual Meeting in Boston.

On behalf of the Career Development Committee of the Society for Medical Decision Making, we invite you to participate as a mentor in this year's One-to-One Mentorship Program. The 46th Annual Meeting will be held in Boston, USA, 27-30 October 2024.

The SMDM One-to-One Mentorship program is seeking mentors at diverse levels, from junior faculty/scientists and above, who are willing to provide support and guidance to students, post doctoral fellows, and junior faculty/scientist members in their career development. Early career junior faculty/scientist members can serve as both mentors (to students and post-docs) and mentees.

There will be a separate call for mentees after this call is closed.

The One-to-One Mentorship program connects trainees and early career researchers with established members for advice on career and professional development within the medical decision-making field. Discussions may cover pathways to success, involvement in SMDM activities, and more. This program aims to foster networking and long-term collegial relationships.

If you would like to participate as a mentor, please fill out the brief web-based survey by Monday, 9 September 2024. To facilitate the matching process, basic information about your research and clinical interests will be asked. Mentees will review mentor bios and select potential mentors based on shared interests. This year, we are refining the matching process to ensure more mentors and mentees are successfully paired. We greatly appreciate our mentors valuable time and participation!

If you have questions specific to the 1:1 Mentorship Program, please reach out to ryan.suk@emory.edu or mreitsma@stanford.edu or mhcan@hsph.harvard.edu. In the past, mentors and mentees have found this to be a tremendously rewarding experience. We hope that you will choose to participate and look forward to seeing you in October!
