Hotel Information

SMDM has booked a limited number of rooms at the Radisson Blue Scandinavian Hotel in Oslo. In addition, there are several hotels throughout the area that we have arranged discounts for until they are at capacity.

The Radisson room block is reserved on a first come, first served basis and SMDM can not guarantee additional rooms once the block has sold out. This is our preferred hotel with a tram stop outside the back door that goes directly to the university campus. It also has a swimming pool and an epic breakfast!

Travel Logistics

Oslo Airport (OSL – Gardermoen) to Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel

Option 1: Flytoget Airport Express Train (Recommended for Speed & Convenience)

Travel Time: approx. 19–22 minutes to “Nationaltheatret Station”
Frequency: every 10 minutes during the day
Cost: approx. 220–260 NOK (varies by time of day)

How to Use It:

  1. After exiting baggage claim, follow signs for “Flytoget / Airport Express Train.”
  2. Purchase a ticket at the Flytoget kiosks or tap your credit card directly at the turnstiles.
  3. Board the train going toward Oslo S (all trains stop at Nationaltheatret).
  4. Exit at Nationaltheatret Station.
  5. From Nationaltheatret, the hotel is a 7–10 minute walk:
    – Exit toward Parkveien side.
    – Walk north toward Holbergs gate.
    – The hotel will be on your right.

Option 2: VY Regional Train (More Affordable)

Travel Time: 23–25 minutes
Cost: approx. 120–140 NOK

How to Use It:

  1. Follow signs for “Train / VY.”
  2. Purchase a ticket at the machine or via the VY mobile app.
  3. Board any train heading to Oslo S.
  4. Exit at Nationaltheatret Station.
  5. Walk 7–10 minutes as described above.

Option 3: Taxi

Travel Time: 40–50 minutes (depending on traffic)
Cost: 850–1,200 NOK depending on company and time of day

How to Use It:

  1. Follow signs for Taxi after exiting arrivals.
  2. Use only the authorized taxi rank.
  3. Ask for a fixed airport rate before entering the cab.

Option 4: Airport Bus (Flybussen)

Travel Time: approx. 45–60 minutes
Stop: “Radisson Blu Scandinavia” or nearby stop depending on route
Cost: approx. 220–250 NOK

Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel to University of Oslo – Blindern Campus

Main campus address: Problemveien 7, 0315 Oslo (Oslo, Norway)

Option 1: Tram (Recommended – Easiest Route)

Travel Time: approx. 10–12 minutes
Line: Tram 17 or 18 toward Rikshospitalet
Stop: “Universitetet Blindern”

How to Use It:

  1. From the hotel, walk 3–4 minutes to the Holbergs plass tram stop.
  2. Board tram 17 or 18 heading toward Rikshospitalet.
  3. Ride til Universitetet Blindern Stop.
  4. The campus buildings are directly adjacent to the stop.

Option 2: Metro (T-Bane)

Travel Time: approx. 12–15 minutes
Lines: 4 or 5 (both serve Blindern)
Stop: “Blindern”

How to Use It:

  1. Walk approximately 10–12 minutes from the hotel to the Nationaltheatret metro station.
  2. Take metro line 4 or 5 in the direction of Vestli / Sognsvann depending on the schedule.
  3. Exit at Blindern station.
  4. Walk 5–7 minutes to your specific campus building.

Single Ticket (Adult): approx. 42–46 NOK if purchased via the Ruter app
Single Ticket Purchased Onboard (if available): approx. 60 NOK
24-Hour Pass: approx. 121–131 NOK

Notes:
Prices vary slightly by year, but these are the current standard ranges for Oslo Zone 1.
Most attendees will only need a Zone 1 ticket for hotel-to-campus travel.
