SMDM Virtual Course: Discrete Event Simulation in R to support healthcare decision making
About this course
This course covers all basic choices and methods required for developing and analyzing discrete event simulations (DES): The practical steps involved in modeling, different types of evidence that can be used, alternative approaches for handling competing events, and how to reflect different types of patient variation.
A single case study will be used in all exercises, extending a simple DES into a comprehensive model, including probabilistic analysis. R will be used and ready-to-use scripts will be provided. Exercise answers will be provided and participants will leave with a running DES model.
