About this Event
The Decision Sciences for Child Health Collaborative (DSCCo) and Q+ Affinity Group SIGs are co-hosting a virtual Discovery Dialogue seminar featuring Drs. Siri Kjoelaas and Line Mediå, counselors and researchers at the Norwegian Centre for Rare Diseases, Oslo University Hospital.
Talk Description: This talk explores parents’ experiences of raising a child with differences in sex development (DSD), with particular attention to how healthcare knowledge and decision-making responsibilities evolve as children grow into adolescence and adulthood. Drawing on qualitative interviews, it examines how parents navigate uncertainty, healthcare systems, and their changing role while gradually supporting their child’s autonomy. The talk highlights transition as a relational process that unfolds not only within healthcare services, but also through the everyday work of families.
