48th Annual Meeting of the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM)
Oslo, Norway | 28 June – 1 July 2026
Registration for the 48th Annual SMDM Annual Meeting will open 23 March 2026. We look forward to welcoming the global medical decision-making community to Oslo for an engaging program of research presentations, short courses, and networking opportunities.
Because the meeting is being hosted in Norway and SMDM is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization, registration payments must be processed through two separate systems to comply with Norwegian VAT regulations. Please review the information below carefully before registering.
Registration Process
Step 1: Confirm Your Membership Status
If you would like to access the SMDM member registration rate, you must have an active membership prior to registering.
While membership is not required to attend, there are many benefits to SMDM membership, including reduced Annual Meeting registration rates. In fact, during the regular registration period, the combined cost of membership and registration is often less than the non-member registration rate.
If needed, please join or renew your membership before proceeding with registration. Current members should log in before accessing the registration form to ensure the correct rates are displayed.
Step 2: Complete the Registration Form
When you register through the SMDM registration form, you will:
- Select your registration category
- Indicate whether you will attend the social event
- Select any short courses
- Indicate whether you will add Continuing Medical Education credit
- Add a donation if you choose
During this step:
- Short courses, Continuing Medical Education Credit, and any donations are paid directly to SMDM within the registration form
- Conference registration and social event fees are not collected on this form
Step 3: Complete Payment via Epay
After submitting the registration form, you will be directed to complete payment through Epay (University of Oslo payment processing).
- Conference registration and social event fees must be paid through Epay
- Accepted payment methods are Visa and Mastercard only. The Epay system does not accept corporate cards.
- You will receive links and instructions to select the correct registration category and complete your payment
Your registration is not considered complete until all applicable payments have been successfully submitted.
Membership Requirement for Member Rates
To receive SMDM member registration rates, your membership must be active prior to completing registration. Anyone wishing to access member rates should join or renew their membership before registering.
All current members should log in to their SMDM account before navigating to the registration page to ensure that the correct member registration options are displayed.
If you are unable to log in, your membership may have lapsed. Please rejoin using the same email address previously associated with your membership to ensure your existing profile and history are retained. Using a new email address will create a separate profile.

USD equivalents are listed for reference and are calculated using a 90-day average exchange rate: NOK 9.86 = USD 1 (as of 10 March 2026)

Social Events
Annual Meeting Social Event at Oslo City Hall
Fee: NOK 329 (~USD 34)
Join us for this year’s Annual Meeting Social Event at Oslo City Hall, the iconic venue where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is held. This historic and architecturally striking setting offers a truly special backdrop for an evening of networking and celebration with colleagues from around the world.
We are pleased to offer this event at a record low price to make it accessible for all attendees. The social event is supported by the City of Oslo.
Due to venue capacity, attendees may initially purchase one social event ticket per registered participant during registration. We will reassess capacity and hope to open registration for family members and guests after the early registration deadline of 11 May 2026. Information on how to purchase guest tickets will be shared at that time.
After-Hours Gathering at Raadhuset Bar
Following the social event, attendees are invited to continue the evening at Raadhuset Bar, located just a 3-minute walk from Oslo City Hall. The after-hours gathering will begin at 8:30 PM (20:30), making it an accessible and enjoyable continuation of the evening for attendees and their guests.
This informal gathering is intended as a casual networking opportunity to connect with colleagues in a relaxed setting.
- No ticket or registration fee is required
- Guests are welcome
- Games, karaoke, food, and beverages will be available for purchase individually
During registration, you will see an optional question asking whether you plan to attend the after-hours gathering. While no registration is required, indicating your interest helps us provide the venue with an estimated attendance so we can keep the space reserved privately for SMDM attendees and their guests.
We hope many of you will join us for this fun continuation of the evening.

Continuing Medical Education Credit
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of AffinityCE and the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM).
AffinityCE is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
AffinityCE designates this live activity for a maximum of 15.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
CME credit may be added during registration.
CME Fee: USD 30
Short course and CME fees are paid directly to SMDM and are charged in U.S. Dollars (USD). For attendees who wish to view approximate costs in another currency (e.g., NOK or EUR), we recommend using a currency converter such as https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/ to estimate current exchange rates.
Meals and On-Site Dining
Unlike typical SMDM Annual Meetings, where lunch is not provided, this year we will be offering a simple lunchbox that is included as a part of your registration fee from Sunday through Tuesday due to limited on-campus dining options.
The University campus will have minimal food and beverage availability during the meeting. A convenience store and coffee shop will be open on-site; however, options may be limited.
To support attendees, boxed lunches are being designed to be as dietary inclusive as possible. During registration, you will have the opportunity to indicate any dietary restrictions or preferences that fall within the accommodations we are able to provide.
Please note that while we will make every effort to accommodate common dietary needs, meals may not be suitable for all attendees, and customization options will be limited. If you have specific or strict dietary requirements and need more information about the available options, please contact us directly at info@SMDM.org.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
If you need to cancel your registration, please notify us by email at info@SMDM.org.
Cancellations received on or before 11 May 2026 will receive a full refund.
After 11 May 2026, cancellation requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, but refunds are not guaranteed.
Registration transfers to another attendee will be accepted through 18 June 2026.
Due to the payment structure through the University of Oslo Epay system, partial refunds cannot be processed.
