This issue wasn’t planned around a particular theme, but one emerged anyway.

Several of the articles reflect on the paths that brought people to SMDM – and what convinced them to stay. Reading them together was a nice reminder that successful professional societies aren’t built solely on excellent research. They’re built through mentorship, volunteer work, chance conversations, and the communities that grow around them.
