Keynote Speaker
We are pleased to announce that the Keynote for the 2026 Annual Meeting will be Sander van der Linden, PhD. Sander van der Linden is a Professor of Social Psychology in Society at the University of Cambridge and one of the world’s leading experts on misinformation, social influence, and the psychology of decision making. He directs Cambridge’s Social Decision-Making Lab, where he studies how false information spreads and how societies can build resilience against it. His pioneering work on psychological inoculation—the idea that people can be “prebunked” against misinformation much like a vaccine protects against a virus—has shaped global approaches to combating manipulation and protecting public trust.

Social Event at Oslo City Hall
Separate Ticket Required
Join us Monday evening (June 29th) for a uniquely Oslo evening at the 2026 SMDM Annual Meeting. Thanks to support from the Oslo municipality, we’re able to offer this year’s social event at an especially low price, helping us keep it as affordable and accessible as possible for all meeting attendees. We’ll begin at Oslo City Hall (in Norwegian: Rådhuset, pronounced “ROHD-hoos”), the waterfront landmark where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded each year. Enjoy food and drinks, explore the building’s dramatic murals and artwork, and take in views of the harbor just outside.
